Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations-Integration, the Senior Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates projects related to footprint optimization, capability enhancement, and process and system improvements in manufacturing plants throughout the company.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and executes plans for plant consolidation, equipment movements and installations, and manufacturing process improvement opportunities.
  • Manages projects to optimally right-size production volumes across Dexter’s North American and Asian manufacturing facilities, accounting for production capacities and mix by plant, work force utilization, operating expenses and freight for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with Dexter management and business unit management to prioritize and execute a set of strategic operational opportunities critical to company objectives.
  • Confers with Dexter and business unit management regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Confers with vendors to determine specifications and arrange for purchase of capital equipment and evaluates equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates savings, one-time benefits, one-time costs, staffing requirements and completion timelines of projects in simultaneous execution. Communicates financial and operational data clearly to Dexter and business unit management.
  • Coordinates with local, city and state governments to qualify for incentive programs (i.e. tax credits, training grants) around investment and job creation.
  • Responsible for managing projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Identifies and implements best practices across operational projects.
  • Evaluates standardization of equipment and processes across operational projects.
  • All assignments focus on appropriate safety and environmental considerations during execution.
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.



Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline, and 10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.  Experience leading operational projects for industrial manufacturing companies.  Clear written and verbal communication skills.  Demonstrated ability to apply economic and operational analysis to quantify savings and improvement opportunities.  Strong bias toward action. Proactive and able to deliver financial results on time. Capable communicator and collaborator.
