Dexter, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Quality Engineer at our Albion Indiana campus.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Summary 
    • Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
    • Perform quality engineering reviews or design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality specifications and company quality records.
    • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
    • Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
    • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
    • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
    • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
    • Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
    • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
    • Serves as Management Representative backup, performing the duties of Management Representative as defined by ISO standards when needed.
    • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a comparable discipline and at least 1 year related experience; or an equivalent in combination of education and experience.

 

Candidate must have solid understanding of the quality sciences including Problem Solving Analysis, Measurement System Analysis (SPC), project management, control plans, corrective actions/error proofing, 8-D Corrective Action reports, PFMEA's and parts approval process.
