Overview

Dexter, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Quality Manager at our company Atlanta, GA facility.

Position Summary

Champions the Continuous Improvement program at the plant level by providing the tools, training, guidance, and support to facilitate success. Implements and maintains the Dexter Quality system.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Quality System: Establish and maintain an ISO 9001 quality system for the Atlanta facility, as a part of and in compliance with the Dexter Axle Quality Management system.
  • Evaluate the extent to which quality objectives have been met.
  • Ensure that processes needed for the quality system are established, implemented, and maintained.
  • Develop quality standards, policies and related systems that will ensure minimal defects in product and minimal waste of resources.
  • Report to management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.
  • Ensure the promotion of awareness of customer requirements/satisfaction throughout the organization.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to and follow-up on customer quality inquiries and/or complaints.
  • Directs Personnel efforts in accomplishing the following portions of the quality system: incoming inspection, process control, gage calibration, document control, internal auditing, training, SPC analysis, customer feedback, and corrective actions. 
  • Facilitate the Plant Management Review Meetings in accordance with the ISO 9001:2015 paragraph 9.3.2 and 9.3.2 of the standard.
  • Schedule and Chair Plant Quality meetings and leads stakeholders to closure on the actions identified.
  • Manage, train, coach and mentor all subordinates in QA Department.
  • Ensure compliance with the Dexter record retention policy
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Requirements

  • Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Industrial Technology or related field and at least 3-5 years’ experience as a Quality Manager in a OEM/Automotive industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in Total Quality Management, using tools such as 6Sigma, Shainin, 8D’s, QCPs, and/or advanced understanding of ISO9000 and/or AS9100 quality standards.
  • Must have exposure to Lean environments and have a ZERO DEFECT and FLAWLESS LAUNCH mentality.
  • The candidate will have clear, concise, oral and written communication skills and the ability to influence the actions of others without formal authority.
  • Ability to integrate/execute new systems, be Customer focused, and provide problem solving training.
  • Experience assisting or leading a culture-change initiative in regards to Quality practices.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
