Rockwell American, a Dexter company, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Maintenance Manager at our Seagoville, TX facility - conveniently located in the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area.

Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager at Rockwell American’s Leaf Spring Manufacturing plant in Seagoville, TX.  The Maintenance Manager will lead a team of one Supervisor and nine Maintenance Technicians. The Maintenance Manager will support plant facilities, the maintenance of existing equipment and the implementation of new machinery and processes in order to drive continuous improvement in product quality, process efficiency and safety.  The plant encompasses 78,000ft and has approximately 90 non-union employees operating on two shifts.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritizes project and ensures adequate resources (equipment, materials, time and personnel) are available to complete them.
  • Suggests and implements corrective action.
  • Ensures employees adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines while on the job.
  • Adheres to department’s operating budget while creating short- and long-term project goals.
  • Ensures workforce is adequately trained, equipped and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely and costeffective manner.
  • Initiates utilization, preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs and warranty work of all site assets.
  • Monitors the use and inventories of parts, maintenance supplies and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
  • Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce maintenance costs.
  • Participates in maintenance department objective setting and preparation of capital plans and operating budgets.
  • Establishes and maintains a maintenance management system for tracking work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, parts inventory and maintenance history of equipment.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving site maintenance, asset utilization and solving maintenancerelated problems
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires Associate’s Degree in Business or a comparable technical discipline and at least 6 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience mush include robots as well as a minimum of 3 years maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment that included high-volume metal fabrication (e.g. forming, cutting, heat treatment) and assembly. 

 

Additional requirements include:

  • Experience in Six Sigma, Toyota Production System, Kaizen or other lean manufacturing methodologies.�
  • Experience with successfully implementing TPM and 5S programs.
  • Automotive or transportation industry experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).  
  • Demonstrated results in developing and mentoring a team of maintenance technician.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and extended hours as necessary to support production needs.
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Can-do attitude combined with high energy level.
  • Able to assist in developing the annual CAPEX plan and plant operating budget.
