Overview

Rockwell American, a Dexter company, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician at our Seagoville, TX facility - conveniently located in the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area.  The plant encompasses 78,000 square feet and has approximately 90 non-union employees operating on two shifts.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician reports directly to the Plant Manager at Rockwell American’s Leaf Spring Manufacturing plant in Seagoville, TX.  The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will develop tools, implement designs, and integrate machinery or equipment to ensure effective manufacturing processes.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspects products and processes for flaws and identifies areas of improvement.
  • Utilizes prints to fabricate components which include using several forms of metal chip forming processes, welding, and assembly.
  • Solves problems related to reducing production costs, planning workflows, and designing the layout of machinery within a factory.
  • Develops and tests solutions to solve technical problems in manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoots equipment, machinery and tooling at the manufacturing plants. Assists engineers, inspects products, conducts tests, and collects data.
  • Installs equipment at the manufacturing plants.
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requires Associate’s Degree in Engineering, or a comparable discipline and at least 2 years related experience in heavy metal fabrication (i.e. heat treating, cutting, welding forming of steel); or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Desired qualities and capabilities:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Solidworks 3D design software.
  • Be willing to work flexible shifts and extended hours as necessary to support production needs.
  • Have can-do attitude combined with high energy level along
  • Experience with ISO-9000 and PPAP process documentation requirements
