Rockwell American, a Dexter company, the premier supplier and manufacturer of axles, doors, venting products and related components in the utility trailer, boat trailer, recreational vehicle, heavy duty and manufactured housing markets, has an opportunity for a Shipping & Receiving Supervisor at our Seagoville, TX facility - conveniently located in the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) area.  The plant encompasses 78,000 square feet and has approximately 85 non-union employees operating on three shifts.

Position Summary

The Shipping / Receiving Supervisor works directly for the Plant Manager and works in close coordination with the Master Scheduler to ensure timely and accurate shipment/delivery of products to commercial customers.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Reports discrepancies to inventory personnel and Management.


  • Preparing and verifying documents, such as, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials. Strong dispatch experience and the ability to supervise personnel.


  • Uses sales forecast to consolidate customer orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed. Calculates load densities to ensure proper shipping space per order.


  • Utilizes FedEx and UPS software, plus carrier web sites to process shipments, obtain freight quotes, and track shipments.


  • Communicates directly with customers and provides professional service including resolution of problems and discrepancies while building and improving customer relationships.


  • Maintains shipping / receiving files for accuracy and accessibility. Utilizes computer systems for planning, analysis, execution, and documentation of shipping / receiving activities.


  • Using a working knowledge of freight terms and Incoterms, processes shipments and recognizes potential issues and errors.


  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.


Requires Associate’s Degree in Business, or a comparable discipline and at least 6 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Mathematical and Reporting Skills / Computer Skills:

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to develop, produce and interpret various charts and graphs.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook required.


Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent phone etiquette and ability to communicate effectively with broad range of personnel.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multiple task environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess the strength and endurance needed to lift and move packages and operate a forklift.
  • Prefers fluency in Spanish and English. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
