    Position Summary

    The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor provides leadership and direction to hourly associates including overseeing material transactions and equipment to ensure efficiency and accuracy are maintained.  This includes coordination of activities related to the company’s quality, safety, and production, including responsibility for financial performance of the facility.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Accomplishing appropriate material transaction results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.


    Maintaining staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities.


    Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures, and participating in plant safety, health and environmental programs.


    Completing a daily shipping/receiving plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress, and resolving problems.


    Supporting the development and deployment of the Dexter Operating System (DOS)


    Ensuring quality procedures are followed and achieving 100% on time delivery and customer satisfaction.


    Performing other tasks, duties or special projects as directed.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    Directly supervises hourly shipping/receiving associates.  Supervisory responsibilities must be carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training direct reports; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance yearly; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  


    Position requires an Associate's Degree in Business or related discipline, and at least 6 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment,  or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Strong communication skills, including the ability to produce clear written instructions and other business documents, are required.   Candidate must be willing and capable of handling employee and customer problems in a fast paced environment.  Computer literacy and the ability to work any shift is required.
