Position Summary

The Fleet Manager will manage the equipment and vehicle fleet for all operations. The position will be responsible for all carrier filings, CDL driver compliance, rental agreements, lease agreements, purchasing of fleet and equipment and fleet maintenance. Key focus will be to optimize usage across the companies and to maximize utilization of all fleet operations including company drivers across all of our locations.

 

The Fleet Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Work with SBU’s to develop the optimal fleet mix and drive equipment utilization
  • Analyze GPS systems to monitor equipment and vehicles to drive improved decisions and reduce cost
  • Develop and foster improved synergies between the SBU’s including sharing of resources and fleet
  • Ensure fleet maintenance standards are upheld and managed proactively
  • Work with the Transportation Manager to develop long term strategies including a capital/fleet rotation plan
  • Manage the disposal of used assets to ensure proper timing, sales channel and pricing
  • Work with Finance/Fleet to manage direct vs indirect fleet cost, TCO modeling and job costing
  • Look for and provide recommendations to cut cost and maximize profits
  • Work with SBU’s and Transportation Manager to rollout a TMS system
  • Ensure DOT standards are being upheld and proper execution on corrective actions
  • Assist Transportation Manager

Requirements

  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred – Business Management, Logistics, Finance/Accounting
  • 5 years’ fleet management experience in a related field – construction, equipment rental, logistics/transportation
  • Knowledge of DOT & FMCSA regulations
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • 25% travel
