Position Summary

The Vice President of Inventory Management plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing inventory management operations across the Dexter Distribution network.  This position requires a strategic and analytical mindset as well as strong leadership and communication skills.  As the VP of Inventory Management, you will have a direct impact on the organization’s profitability and customer satisfaction.

 

This position will be responsible for activities including but not limited to the following: 

  • Design and implement effective inventory management strategies including demand forecasting, inventory planning, replenishment, and allocation processes
  • Optimize inventory levels - Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and demand patterns to determine optimal levels for each product category. Identify and implement strategies to reduce excess inventory and minimize stockouts
  • Work closely with Merchandising, Finance, Operations, and Sales to algin inventory management strategies with overall business objectives. Collaborate on demand planning and forecasting to ensure accurate inventory levels.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in inventory management. Stay updated on industry trends and, technology, and regulations to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the inventory management team. Set clear goals and expectations, conduct performance evaluations, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
  • 10%-15% Travel anticipated

Requirements

Dexter is seeking an individual with progressive growth and experience in Multi-Eschelon Inventory Optimization and Multi-Channel Distribution who is capable of building solid teams and blazing paths through transition.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Management or related field.
  • Minimum 8+ years progressive experience in inventory management, supply chain or operations demonstrating a strong in-depth understanding of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • A leader and motivator of others with proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and motivate teams to meet high performance standards
  • Experience in data analysis, forecasting, and demand planning. Proficiency in using management software, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong Project Managment Experience with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously is highly desireable.
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to identify opportunities for optimizing and implementing innovative solutions.  
  • CSCP a plus
